17,156 acres of Bienville National Forest is in Jasper County, providing public hunting lands and camping. Jasper County is known as an excellentt area for deer and turkey hunting.
Marathon Lake, in Bienville Forest, is very near the northwest border of Jasper County and offers swimming, camping, and hiking. Greentree Reservoir, a 50 acre lake is also nearby, off Hwy 504.
The Tallahala Wildlife Management Area is located at Montrose with 28,120 acres available for hunting, and is managed by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks. For more information contact 601 692-2776.
Lake Eddins, at Pachuta is a 700 acre fishing lake and private gated community with land available for residential development. Jasper County has easy access to many recreational activities. You are within an hour of Philadelphia, MS where you will find two casinos, a resort water park, and frequent concerts. In two hours you can be lying on the beach, enjoying the Gulf of Mexico.
